Contractor dies in accident at St. Ambrose University

A Davenport man died after a fall at St. Ambrose University on Wednesday.

The Davenport Police Department responded around 10:37 a.m. to a report of a workplace accident that occurred in the 500 block of West Locust Street.

Preliminary information determined that work was being done at the university’s Galvin Fine Arts Center and a worker had sustained an injury consistent with a fall.

The worker was transported by Medic ambulance to Genesis Medical Center for treatment. Shortly upon arrival, the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as a 45-year-old man. Detectives are following up on the incident. No further information is available at this time.

St. Ambrose University confirmed to Local 4 News that an accident at the Galvin Fine Arts Center Wednesday morning resulted in the death of an outside contractor.

St. Ambrose said the accident remains under investigation and added that “our university’s thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family.”
