The Moline Police Department spent their day at a donut shop.
Despite the obvious jokes, it was all to raise money for a worthy cause.
The “Cop on a Rooftop’ fundraiser for the Special Olympics was held today.
A Moline officer sat on the roof of Dunkin Donuts.
He waved to the crowd while others collected money on the ground.
For one officer, the day has special meaning.
“We’re here to serve and protect. This is the service part of it. It’s always great when we can interact with people that doesn’t involve people going to jail,” said Lt. Jeremy Weeks. “My step daughter is a Special Olympic athlete so I have gotten to go to the Special Olympics and watch them perform in the events. It’s wonderful.”
All of the money raised today will be used to help send athletes to the Special Olympics.
