UPDATE, March 23, 9:20 a.m. — A 23-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a car.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at approximately 10:01 p.m., Davenport Police, Fire, and Medic responded to the 400 block of East Locust Street, in reference to the report of a personal injury crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, responding personnel located a 23-year-old male with fatal injuries. Initial investigation indicates a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was travelling eastbound on East Locust Street when it struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway outside of an intersection, police said Wednesday. This incident remains under investigation; no further details are available at this time.

EARLIER: A pedestrian was struck by a car shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday near the Phillips 66 station at the corner of Iowa and Locust Streets, Davenport.

Davenport Police put up crime-scene tape and blocked the area of Locust Street while their investigation continued. A shoe lay in the street.

An ambulance arrived at the scene. Police said the pedestrian was a man, but did not identify him.
