UPDATE: The East Moline Police Department has released more details on the investigation into a toddler being left alone in an East Moline apartment building.             

Police responded to a report around 11:49 a.m. that a toddler had been left alone in an apartment in the 1200 block of 49th Avenue Court.

Police arrived and discovered the toddler was alone in the apartment and police began an investigation. Police also called an ambulance to the apartment to check the medical welfare of the toddler as a precaution.

The mother, a 39-year-old woman, arrived back at the apartment while police were still on scene. The initial investigation determined the child appeared to have been left alone for around 30 minutes.

Both the mother and the toddler live in the apartment where the incident occurred.

East Moline Police contacted the Department of Children and Family Services. The case is currently being handled by DCFS. At this time an arrest has not been made and a decision on any charges
will not be made until the completion of the DCFS investigation.

EARLIER UPDATE

An investigation is under way after a toddler was left alone in an East Moline apartment building.     

This is after a call came in before Noon on Tuesday.

East Moline Police tell Local 4 News the child was left alone for under 30 minutes.

The mother eventually returned, but will not be charged.

The child was unharmed.

DCFS has been notified and will be conducting an investigation.
