Dozens of people and their four-legged friends took steps toward getting healthy today.
It was part of the first ‘Walk with a Doc’ in Davenport. The health program brings doctors and veterinarians together, outside of a clinic. People and their pets can get active and talk to health care professionals at the same time.
Veterinarian and Organizer, Kathy VanBuer said, “Walking helps decrease your blood pressure.  Being with your pet also decreases blood pressure. They found that it decreases triglycerides, cholesterol, helps with obesity issues and believe it or not, pets have all of those same problems, just the same as their humans.”
Organizers hope to make the walk a monthly event.
