Drivers going through Rock Island’s Downtown have a little something extra to see.
Stecker Graphic put up a sign Wednesday.
It reads: Welcome to Rock Island, Two Bridges, No Flooding. Check Us Out!
The general manager told Local 4 News they got the idea from the extra traffic in the area with work on the I-74 Bridge and flooding closing roads in Davenport.
While for some it might be a good laugh, the primary goal is to attract more business to the city.
“That’s why we went with a positive on this to say hey, stop in, check us out. You’re driving through Rock Island, there are a lot of businesses here and we just and to portray a positive image for the city that sometimes doesn’t always have such a positive image,” said General Manager Greg Stecker.
Greg Stecker said he can understand drivers’ pain. He makes the trip into the office from his home in Bettendorf.
