Drivers identified in I-80 crash; woman, child airlifted to Iowa City

UPDATE: The names of the drivers that were involved in a crash on Interstate 80 in Port Byron Thursday afternoon have been released. 

Police say 31-year-old Kelsey Sterling was driving the mini van that crashed into the back of a semi truck. 

At least three children were also inside. An 8-year-old boy and the driver were airlifted to Iowa City. 

The other two juveniles were treated and released. 67-year-old Ilia Iliev was driving the semi. 

It all happened around 4 p.m.

No word what caused the accident.

EARLIER UPDATE

A crash on I-80 had traffic backed up in Port Byron yesterday.

Local 4 News was first on the scene.

The call came in around 4 p.m.

At least three children were in a mini van — that crashed into the back of a semi truck.    

The passengers needed to be extricated and airlifted to the hospital.

The name of the driver is not being released yet.

No word what caused the accident.
