Our sister station WOI-TV has confirmed that agents with the Division of Criminal Investigation, federal immigration agents and local police were at Yarrabee Farms this week.
The local dairy farm is where Cristhian Rivera was employed for years.
Rivera is accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts. Tibbetts was missing for more than a month from the town of Brooklyn.
Rivera later led police to her body, and allegedly confessed to being involved in the case. He now will go to trial, facing a first-degree murder charge.
Rivera is also an illegal immigrant, as confirmed through immigration officials.
The owners of Yarrabee Farms have been adamant in saying that they were not aware Rivera was an undocumented worker.
They said they did not use the E-Verify system to cross-reference Rivera’s immigration status; they used a similar, but outdated version of it.
The family also said that Rivera did not use that name when he applied and then was employed by the farm.
