The City of Davenport is ready to hear proposals from consultants on Main Street Landing. They will hear them at a public meeting on Tuesday.

“What we’re doing right now is basically a job interview the most qualified consultant, if at all, will be recommended to city council to approve,” said City of Davenport Landscape Design Architect Zach Peterson.

Four finalists are Shive-Hattery out of Moline, RDG out of Dubuque, Iowa, Hitchcock Design Group out of Naperville, Illinois and SEH out of Madison, Wisconsin. Presentations will be made by each design firm and then tehre will be questions and evaluations from the city panel. The consultants will be evaluated off of a list of predetermined qualifications including aspects on their background, approach, and past projects.

The meeting is open to the public. Peterson, who works with Davenport Public Works, says public input is key for the plan because people who live in Davenport are the ones utilizing the space the most.

“It’s our premier riverfront space, it’s our showcase space,” said Peterson. “And from a sustainability standpoint it has a lot of potential to generate, be an economic generator for downtown, have some environmental factors to it as well, and be a social space that’s active and has a purpose.”

The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with doors opening at 8 a.m. It will be help at the City Administration Communications Office at 226 West 4th St.
