The West Burlington Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

One firefighter has died and two others were injured after a rollover crash. According to a crash report from Iowa State Patrol, it happened around 6:10 p.m. Friday night on Highway 163 near Pella.

The report says the driver, 25-year-old Carrie Falcon, lost control on the snowy roadway, veering into the ditch.  52-year-old James Franciskovich was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say Franciskovich was not wearing a seatbelt, but Falcon and 25-year-old Shane McCampbell were. They were treated at the hospital and released.

The three were reportedly on their way to a training exercise at the time of the crash.
