We’ve already seen a few slick spots the past few days, but a hazardous flash freeze is possible later today.
Flash freezing occurs when temperatures plunge well below 32 degrees in just a matter of hours, causing any wet surfaces & standing water to rapidly become icy.
Road temperatures around the QCA are still holding around freezing, but just to our west, much of Iowa is sliding into the teens.
Even some salt treatments can become ineffective if temperatures fall far enough in a short time.
We’re expecting the mercury to fall into the teens during the afternoon, eventually into the single digits during the evening.
Be very careful if you have to travel, and stay warm!
