3. WHAT TYPE OF A PERSON MAKES A GREAT GENESIS HOSPICE VOLUNTEER?
We have amazing volunteers! Our volunteers have special hearts and souls. They are kind, generous, flexible, giving, strong, compassionate, patient. I could go on and on. They are very special to the patients, staff, and families. They are just incredible!

4. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A GENESIS HOSPICE VOLUNTEER?
Our volunteers go through the same process as our Genesis employees do. We do reference checks, background checks, and training that is required by hospice and the states of Illinois and Iowa.  If someone is interested, they need to call me, Amy Bahnsen, at 563-421-5400 and we will set up an interview time.

5. WHAT MAKES GENESIS HOSPICE UNIQUE?
Besides are fabulous volunteers, we have Dr. Ann O’Donnell, our Medical Director. She is located in the Clarissa Cook Hospice house along with our Nurse Practitioner, Tami Mohs. We have the most incredible staff of nurses, hospice aides, chaplains, bereavement coordinators, social workers, massage therapists, music therapists, and clerical staff. We work together as one team. We also don’t have anyone on call. We have nursing available 24/7 and holidays. And of course, we have the Clarissa Cook Hospice House. We also have palliative care under the direction of Dr. Bruce Chamberlain and our fabulous Visiting Nurse  Association. We’re quite a diverse team!
