One group of children in the Quad Cities got a special party Tuesday.
Happy Joe’s held its 44th annual Party for Children with Special Needs Tuesday morning. It’s part of four parties over two days at the iWireless Center in Moline. Happy Joe Whitty was there to spread holiday cheer along with his dog Happy, The Happy Dancers and of course Santa. One local school principal says he’s been bringing his students for 18 years.
“I just think it’s one of the best things the Quad Cities does for special needs kids is have them come, have a party, have them celebrate together and it’s just a wonderful opportunity for all the special needs kids and the caregivers for those children,” said Jeff Johannsen, Hoover Elementary School Principal.
The parties kicked off with pizza and ice cream. Whitty says nearly 168,000 children have attended the parties so far.
