Prairie State Legal Services provides free civil legal services for low income persons and those age 60 and over. Our Rock Island office is one of 12 offices that serve 36 counties throughout Northern and Central Illinois.
How does the Rock Island office help clients in the Illinois Quad Cities?
We help clients with several civil legal issues, including housing issues such as evictions, foreclosures and utility shut-offs; issues affecting personal safety, such as family violence; and gaining or restoring public benefits.
While our clients reside in communities throughout the Illinois Quad Cities, our service area expands well beyond. We serve clients in Henry, Lee, Mercer, Rock Island, and Whiteside counties.
Dore Prairie State offer services to veterans?
We provide civil legal services to veterans and their families as part of the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network. Clients utilizing this program deal with the same matters as other Prairie State clients, including denials of needed health care benefits and help with criminal records that could potentially be sealed or expunged.
Prairie State Legal Services is having a fundraiser in the Quad Cities on April 26. Could you talk about it?
We will have a trivia night on Friday, April 26, in the Camden Center on Route 67 in Milan. Teams of 8 can register for $10 per person, or you can register individually. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and trivia begins at 7 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle, a cash bar, and you are welcome to bring your own food.
It is a great way to spend a Friday night and all proceeds benefit Prairie State Legal Services.
