Silvis Mayor Tom Conrad announced that after two years of working with the Illinois Tourism Board and the Illinois Department of Transportation, Hero Street U.S.A. has been approved as an official Illinois attraction.
The Illinois Department of Transportation has installed new red, white and blue signs on Interstate 80 both East and West noting that exit 4A will lead you to Hero Street U.S.A.
Hero Street U.S.A. is already shown on the official State of Illinois Highway map. Now East/West travelers on I-80 will be alerted to the exit needed to use to get to Hero Street U.S.A.
Hero Street U.S.A. honors the lives of the eight brave sons of Hispanic immigrants who gave their lives in the defense of our great country. Six paid the ultimate price for freedom during World War II and two paid the ultimate price for freedom in Korea.
