Hy-Vee hosts Teal Pumpkin Project event

DAVENPORT, Iowa -     Kids ages 4 - 10 years old are invited to attend a Teal Pumpkin Project event hosted by Hy-Vee. Kids can decorate teal-colored pumpkins, make fun recipes and learn why teal pumpkins are important for kids with food allergies during Halloween. Recipes include tangerine pumpkins and apple monster mouths. Halloween costumes are encouraged but not required. The cost is $10 per child. Parents pay on the day of the class. A parent/guardian is asked to be present during the event.. 

    To register, go to, select the Davenport # 5 (West Locust Street) store location. Select Kids in the Kitchen Class under the Calendar of Events to register. Space is limited. Please notify Heather at 563-324-9948 or by email at with questions or if your child has a food allergy. **Before attending the Kids in the Kitchen class at the West Locust Street Hy-Vee location, please fill out the attached event waiver on our website when you sign up for the class. Please bring the waiver with you to the class.

    The Teal Pumpkin Project™ is designed to promote safety, inclusion and respect of individuals managing food allergies. This nationwide movement offers an alternative for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option, and keeps Halloween a fun, positive experience for all.
