Due to flooding, snow, cold and other factors, the new Interstate 74 bridge’s westbound span won’t be done as expected by Thanksgiving 2019.
In a news conference on Tuesday, officials said safety and quality will not be compromised to get done quickly.
Depending on spring flooding, the westbound span is tentatively scheduled to open in late winter or early spring of 2020.
Additionally, all Iowa-bound local traffic will be directed around sections of I-74 beginning March 18.
We’ll have more on these developments on Local 4 News at 4.
Correction: An earlier version of this story stated late summer 2019 as the original opening date for the westbound span.
