The Winter Weather Advisory was supposed to expire at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Quad Cities.  But with the way things have been this winter would it surprise you to hear it’s been extended?  That’s exactly the case as the new expiration time is Friday at 10 a.m.

The reason for the extension?  We won’t see a lot more snow or freezing rain tonight, but there will be some black ice forming as temperatures plummet this evening.  We’ll also have strong winds and there could be a few power outages.  If/when this happens it will be a result of icy tree limbs and power lines.

Strong winds will make it feel like it’s about -20° late tonight and Friday morning.

As of 4 p,m. MidAmerican Energy was reporting about 200 people in the Quad Cities with no power.
