UPDATE: The juvenile passenger died at University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital last night. This accident remains under investigation by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction unit.
EARLIER: Two people were injured in yesterday’s crash on U.S. Route 20 West, according to a release from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday at about 3:47 p.m., the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a single vehicle accident on U.S. Route 20 West, just west of IL Route 84 N in rural Galena, IL. When deputies arrived, they learned that a vehicle driven by Maria G. Amezquita Rodriguez of Addison, IL had been traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 20 West when she lost control of her vehicle at the merge of the four lanes and began to skid. She over-corrected and crossed into the median before rolling her vehicle multiple times.
Amezquita Rodriguez was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. A juvenile passenger in Amezquita Rodriguez’s vehicle was taken to Midwest Medical Center in Galena and then to University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital for treatment of injuries. This accident remains under investigation by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction unit.

EARLIER: A crash in Jo Daviess County has closed down a portion of U. S. Route 20 West, according to a news release from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened shortly after 3:45 p.m. Monday at U. S. Route 20 West, just west of Illinois Route 84 North, the release says.
