Update: The driver of the fatal crash Friday night on Valley Drive has been identified as Jessica Raaen, 49, of Bettendorf, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
This crash remains under investigation.
Earlier: The driver involved in a single-vehicle crash Friday night in Scott County has died.
The crash happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday, when the Scott County Emergency Center received a call about the crash on the 5700 block of Valley Drive, a press release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office says.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Accident Investigations Team responded, and found a beige 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by a 49-year-old Bettendorf woman, had been traveling west on Valley Drive and ran off the road to the right.
The car then traveled several hundred feet between mailboxes and a telephone pole, then struck a tree head-on.
Bettendorf Fire Department, “by mechanical means,” extricated the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver, whose name had not been released early Saturday, was transported to Genesis East by Medic Ambulance, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The area of the crash is between Pleasant Valley and Panorama Park.
Assisting agencies included the Scott County Sheriff’s Reserves, Bettendorf Fire and Police, and Medic.
The crash remains under investigation.
Earlier: Scott County deputies remained in the area to divert traffic from a single-car accident in which one person was injured shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday in the area of the 5700 block of Valley Drive, Bettendorf.
Deputies, who did not give details about the crash, said one vehicle was involved and one person suffered injuries.
