Five, including one juvenile, charged after crash Friday afternoon

UPDATE: Five people were arrested and charged after an incident Friday in Davenport.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday, Davenport Police Detectives saw Milton Howard Jr., who had an active warrant for escape from the Iowa Department of Corrections, enter a vehicle in the parking lot of Mother Hubbard’s, 321 N. Division St., according to a police news release.

As a marked Davenport Police car entered the parking lot, the vehicle started to take off. More police vehicles tried to block in the suspect vehicle to stop it from fleeing.

The suspect vehicle continued to flee until police were able to stop it in the traveled portion of Fourth Street, the release says. A crash involved multiple cars. Four men and a 17-year-old boy were removed from the suspect vehicle.

Two of the vehicle occupants complained of pain and were transported to Genesis Medical Center – West Campus – by Medic EMS. They were discharged from the hospital shortly afterward, the release says. All five occupants were arrested and face charges:

  • Milton Howard Jr., 20, of Davenport, faces charges of escape from the Iowa Department of Corrections, criminal gang participation, and felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Jacobey Reese-Bolton,18, of Davenport, faces charges of criminal gang participation and felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Rashawn Sigle, 19, of Chicago, faces charges of from an outstanding warrant for failure to appear – battery, possession of a controlled substance; criminal gang participation and carrying weapons.
  • Elijah Wires, 18, of Davenport, faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm, criminal gang participation and having no driver’s license,
  • A 17-year-old boy from Davenport faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm, criminal gang participation and possession of a controlled substance.

The incident remains under investigation. No further information was available Friday night, the release says.

EARLIER: Police were in the area of West 4th and Division streets, Davenport, about 3:45 p.m. Friday in response to an incident involving a crash.

One person was transported from the scene by ambulance. Five people were in custody.

Traffic was being diverted from the scene. Local 4 News and www.ourquadcities.com will provide updates as we learn more information.
