Heavy police presence on Columbia, Brady, on Monday evening

Local News

UPDATE: Just before 6 p.m. on Monday, Davenport Police were responding to a call from 2635 Fair Avenue about a man, Rafael Diaz, 34, of Davenport, who was high on drugs and at a family member’s house from where he was legally barred. The caller was afraid he may harm those in the home, including several children and a babysitter.

Police were able to locate Diaz, but he was not compliant to the officers orders. Not knowing if Diaz was armed, police drew their weapons. Diaz then complied.

After police investigated the incident, no charges were filed against Diaz.

Later that night just before 10 p.m., Diaz returned to the house. When police arrived, Diaz tried to leave despite the police ordering him to stay. Diaz then became physically aggressive with the officers that were trying to detain him.

Diaz was arrested and charged with trespassing and interference with official acts.
