Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds addressed the use of Iowa National Guard troops on the southern border with Mexico upon their return from deployment.

Reynolds joined members of the National Guard and Iowa’s Department of Public Safety and expressed concerns about the increase of drug trafficking through Iowa.
Reynolds criticized the Biden administration’s response to it. She authorized the deployment in May after a request from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Iowa spent almost $2 million from the American Rescue Plan on the deployment.
