Now, some analysts say that trend is growing faster.

Americans carry an average of $46 at any time.

Going cashless, though, has accelerated during the pandemic.

Some people fear the spread of the virus on money, for example.

An assistant professor at the George Washington School of Medicine says the risk of catching COVID-19 from paper bills is low, even if you touch a contaminated object.
