UPDATE: The City of Rock Island announced that the boil order has been lifted.
After testing water samples from multiple locations in the affected areas, the City of Rock Island Water Treatment Plant verified that the water is safe for consumption without boiling.
The water pressure throughout the system is normal.
EARLIER UPDATE: The City of Rock Island has issued a precautionary boil order for part of the city.
Residents living from 25th Street east to the Moline border and between 7th and 18th Avenue should boil water used for drinking and cooking until further notice.
Monday’s storm may have caused an unexpected drop in system pressure and the city is unable to guarantee the quality of the water in the area.
