UPDATE Authorities on Monday recovered a Pontiac Bonneville which was reported stolen, according to a release from the Davenport Police.

The Davenport Police Department was informed about a possible vehicle that was detected by sonar, just downstream from the Credit Island boat ramp.

The Department along with Davenport Fire, Big River Rescue and Recovery Dive Team and Fred’s Towing on Monday recovered the vehicle after an extensive search.

No other information is available at this time and the case remains under investigation.

EARLIER UPDATE: The car recovered from the water was a Pontiac Bonneville, and it had previously been reported stolen.

Davenport police received a tip last week about the vehicle perhaps being detected by sonar, near the Credit Island boat ramp.

The Big River Rescue and Recovery Dive Team along with the Davenport Fire Department was seen removing a 4-door passenger vehicle from the Mississippi River by the Credit Island around 1:45 p.m.
