Proposed Iowa ethanol mandate could cause gas prices to rise

Local News

House study bill 185 would require almost all gasoline sold in Iowa to contain at least 10 percent ethanol. The governor would have an option to raise it to 15 percent in four years.

Her proposal would also shift existing tax credits for ethanol and bio-fuel to those with blends higher than the new baseline.

That will require significant investment from sellers and the cost could be passed along to the consumer.
