UPDATE: The Rock Island City Council approved a new contract with the Rock Island-Milan School District for a school resource officer from the Rock Island Police Department. The school board will need to approve the contract for the change to happen.
Rock Island High School hasn’t used a school resource officer for the past few years, but the Rock Island City Council is expected to vote on a contract to provide one again.
The officer would be a Rock Island police officer, and the school board could take it up as soon as November 14 if the council approves the measure. The officer would start in January if the contract is approved.
