Rock Island issues warning due to high water level on Rock River

Local News

The City of Rock Island issued a warning due to the high water level on the Rock River.

They are recommending that boaters avoid the Rock River west of Ben Williamson Park. The boat barrier buoys are not in place and the Steel Dam is hard to see due to the high water.

Also, the area is extremely dangerous due to both the high water and strong current.

The City says once the water level drops below 9.5 feet, the boat barrier buoys will be installed.
