Winter storms don’t stop car thieves from preying on victims

Local News

Car thieves in the Quad Cities are on the prowl even in rough winter conditions.

In 2020, there were almost 500 cars stolen in Davenport alone.

The Quad Cities area has averaged 600 to 800 car thefts each year over the last three.

The Lock It Down QC initiative has been working to help curb that number with practical advice for car owners, especially in the winter.

A Davenport officer says, it happens at places like gas stations, but also close to home.

We highlight the growing issue on our Lock It Down QC series, starting Tuesday on Local 4 News at 5.
