Moline police officers are already thinking about Christmas and ways to give presents to lower-income children.
Today the Moline Police Department held a Kids and Cops Holiday Shopping Cookout fundraiser.
It was held at the Wal-Mart in Moline.
There were brats, hot dogs drinks and snacks all for just $3.
The money raised at the cookout will all go to toward buying Christmas presents to a lucky student and their family.
The Moline Police Department has had this program for over 13 years.
Sergeant of the department shares with us what makes the fundraiser so special.
“The best part is doing this fundraiser and when you have people come back that have actually been through the program and donate money. They stop us and they say hey i was actually one of the kids who went shopping and you know here’s five to 10 dollars, “says Sergeant Andrew Raya.
One lucky student will get selected from one of the elementary schools the officers visit.
They will then get the chance to shop for Christmas presents with officers from the Moline police department.
