+ Today begins Day 3 of the Illinois legislature’s special session on education funding. Democrats are refusing to send an education funding bill to Gov. Rauner’s desk until Monday – the last day of this session. Rauner has promised amendatory veto to scale back what he calls a “bailout” for Chicago schools. Speaker Madigan hopes to override that.

+ The safety of carnival rides here is top of mind, after a deadly fair accident in Ohio. Redrick Terry takes a closer look at local safety measures.  

+ RAGBRAI riders are waking up in Cresco, Iowa this morning for day six of their trek across the state. Today, they will make a 60 mile trip to Waukon. Yesterday, cyclist Lance Armstrong and Nascar driver Jimmie Johnson joined the latest leg. Carie Kuehn reports.  

+ The 46th annual Street Fest in downtown Davenport will feature an entire row of barbecue vendors, called Ribfest. It runs today and tomorrow. Admission is free. Details.  

Also roads leading up to the Bix-7 are now closed ahead of tomorrow’s big race. Parking restrictions have also begun along some downtown streets. We have a list of closures here.
