The Mississippi River is expected to crest at its highest level since 2001 this week.

The latest projections show an expected crest in the Quad Cities of 22.2 ft. on Wednesday morning. That’s about another foot higher that current levels as of Monday evening.A 22.2 ft. crest would be the 4th highest mark on record. This latest crest forecast factors in today’s heavy rain and expected rain tomorrow into early Wednesday.

Scattered showers are expected late tonight, with widespread rain through most of Tuesday. With the ground already saturated, flash flooding will be a threat over the next couple days.
