New temperature record set in Quad Cities

Our first day of 90°+ temperatures set a record in the Quad Cities. 

The mercury topped out at 91° in the QC metro this afternoon, making it the hottest May 16th on record. The previous record high of 90° was set back in 1992. 

For perspective, the Quad Cities normally sees its first 90° reading around June 5th. 

Our average high temperature on this date is around 73°.
