One dead as car hits house, starts fire

The house is a total loss, but no one inside was injured; driver killed

MAYSVILLE, Iowa - A large house fire in Maysville, Iowa has been keeping the Scott County Sheriff's Department busy this morning.

Fire crews said a car hit a house in the 9400 block of 235th Street.

Scott County Sheriff's Department is on the scene, as is the Red Cross and Iowa State Patrol. Fire departments from Maysville, Eldridge and Walcott assisted as well.

The house is a total loss. People living in the house were inside, but they weren't injured.

Police say the fire has been burning since 11 p.m. last night. The driver of the car is dead. The identity is not being released at this time.

Officials said the vehicle was traveling north on Maysville Road and crashed into the front of the house.
