One of the first severe weather risks for the Quad Cities Thursday

One of the first active weather days of the year is expected Thursday. Showers and storms are likely for parts of the area by Thursday evening and there is a decent risk of severe weather as well.

The storms will form over the QCA and as they pass through they will gain strength. They will move from west to east and fire up especially strong over Central IL. The severe weather risk is low but it is there nonetheless with the the chance of some isolated tornadoes.

Temperatures are climbing into the upper 60s ahead of the storms which is adding plenty of fuel for convection which is needed for the storms. The best chance for the storms comes around the evening commute so it is especially crucial that you’re remaining weather aware.

Stay tuned all day for continued updates!
