The city of Davenport recently announced a renovation for an impactful square with a hard-to-pronounce name.
The Kaiserslautern Square park is located on 3rd St. across from the Adler Theater and commonly called “K-Square” for short. It’s dedicated to sister city Kaiserslautern, Germany, where a Davenport park also resides.
Now, the Quad Cities Chamber’ Downtown Davenport Partnership is looking to renovate the long-overlooked square that they say is in the core of downtown in one of the busiest corridors.
Kyle Carter of the Downtown Davenport Partnership says it’s a great example of a private/public partnership.
The finished park will feature a pedestrian-friendly design including a new fountain, platform for entertainment, shade trees, and more.
Construction is expected to begin this spring following the final fundraising push. And that final push includes an upcoming fundraiser.
The Downtown Davenport Partnership is partnering with Duck City Bistro, in which all event proceeds will go to construction of the park. Tickets are $50 per person. That’s on February 28, 5-9 p.m., at Duck City Bistro.
