Rock Island Police offering tips to prevent becoming a victim of vehicle theft

Last year 84% of vehicle burglaries involved vehicles that were unlocked

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Quad Cities Police Departments have been dealing with an uptick in car thefts recently. Rock Island Criminal Investigations Division Commander Lieutenant Tim McCloud joined us in studio to talk more about his staff is handling it.

He says last year, 84% of vehicle burglaries involved vehicles that were unlocked. 74% of the vehicles stolen were either left unlocked, running, or the keys were left inside the vehicle. There are some simple tips to make sure you don't become a victim. For those, watch the video above.
