Rock Island High School is hosting a resource fair that stands out from others you might have heard of. It’s the first year of the event called Rocking Together.
According to organizers Ramona Dixon and Dan McNeil, Rocking Together is not your average resource fair.
Dixon and McNeil are members of the RIMSD #41 Check and Connect Group, which consists of a council of nonprofits that provide services to students and families in the Rock Island-Milan School District, including the Rock Island Public Library, Spring Forward Learning Center and the King Center.
The resource fair will include sessions of information topics on education, health care, nutrition, mental health, preventative care and safety, according to Dixon and McNeil.
It’s also meant to be interactive.
Families will be able to walk away from Rocking Together with books, resources and “winter kits.”
