The Genesis Cancer Care Institute in Davenports is teaming up with PaintFest America to bring a little color to the center.
The program brings cancer patients, survivors and families together to produce art for the walls of the hospital to soften the environment.
The national program calls it a “painting army” with the goal of beautifying the medical setting.
It’s also a stress reliever for those battling cancer.
“I think it’s relaxing, for anybody going through cancer or any type of treatment for their cancer. It relieves stress I think, and paint just beautifies the whole entire world whether you’re going through cancer or not,” said cancer survivor Anne Barnes.
The program is traveling to all 50 states throughout the remainder of 2016. The completed paintings will be hung at the Genesis Cancer Care Institute , Iowa Cancer Specialists, and Gilda’s Club.
