Work on bringing passenger rail service from Chicago to the Quad Cities is expected to ramp up soon.
Wednesday U.S. congresswoman Cheri Bustos took a tour of the “Q” multi modal station in downtown Moline. She reiterated all funding is in place for the project to move forward.

Rain put a halt to work on the site for a little but Moline’s planning and development director, Ray Forsythe says  that’s only temporary.

“Yesterday there were the John Deere tractors out there digging for the storm water system that’s going in. The plaza and the platform, all that work is underway. The private side is starting construction we think probably early next week. We’re actually going to see hundreds of construction workers putting it all together.”

Hotel and restaurants are on schedule to open next summer at this time. The rail service is expected to follow by the end of 2017 or early the following year.
