MOLINE, Illinois - The Illinois Department of Transportation will permanently close 5th Avenue between I-74 and 21st Street in Moline on Monday for reconstruction of the I-74 bridge.
19th Street will also be reduced to one lane for utility work that will wrap up in May and will reopen.
Temporary shoulder closings will also be in effect Monday.
Shoulders on the I-74 bridge will be closed between 7th Avenue South of Avenue of the Cities to allow access and prepare for roadway expansion.
IDOT recommends people use 4th Avenue, 6th Avenue or 7th Avenue as an alternate.
Extreme caution should be taken and extra time should be allotted due to these closures.
The I-74 bridge project is expected to wrap up by 2020.
