UPDATE: The Clinton Police Department released a statement indicating that they responded to a report of a person being shot, but it turned out to be a “minor knife wound.”
The victim was treated and released from Mercy One in Clinton.
Officers found no evidence of a gunshot. Police say “the offender has been identified and is a juvenile. There is no danger to the public.”
Police tell Local 4 News a person was stabbed.
Clinton Police told Local 4 News a domestic incident led to an injury near Clinton Community College.
Clinton’s public schools were locked down as a precaution and police surrounded a house near Lawndale Drive and Lincoln Boulevard that they thought the suspect was inside.
Police searched the house and cleared it. They are still looking for the suspect, who police believe is armed.
A heavy police presence is across from Clinton Community College.
The college told Local 4 News they are not officially on lockdown, but have encouraged students with classes to stay away at this time due to the incident.
At least three schools are on lockdown in Clinton as a precaution due to what one school is calling “a community event” and another said is “an incident on their end of town that police are investigating.”
Bluff Elementary, Jefferson Elementary and Clinton High School were the three schools affected by the lockdown.
Bluff has been locked down since around 10:45 a.m.
Local 4 News has a crew on the scene and is working to confirm more information.
