Immigration literally took center stage Thursday night in Dewitt.
The Opera House Theatre hosted a play called “Vang.”
It’s a drama about recent migrant farmers.
The play portrays refugees from Thailand, Sudan and Mexico along with the dangerous conditions they escaped from.
The playwright says she hopes people walk away understanding some of our neighbors better.
“It raises questions about the stereotypes that we have about immigrants, the fact that their are immigrants all around us,” said Playwright Mary Swander.
You can still catch the play if you missed the showing.
It will be in Davenport Friday at the Humility of Mary Center on West Central Park Avenue.
The free show starts at 6:30 p.m.
