Police release another photo of third car involved in head-on crash

UPDATE: The Bettendorf Police Department released a screenshot of another video of a third vehicle that was involved in a head-on crash on U.S. 67 last Wednesday. 

The black 1997 to 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix appears to have pre-existing body and paint damage along both driver side doors.  This vehicle entered the downtown area of Bettendorf via 12th Street and continued east on State Street to the accident scene in minutes before the collision. 

Both drivers are still in the hospital.

The Bettendorf Police Department have determined that a third vehicle was involved in a head-on crash on U.S. 67 last Wednesday and failed to remain at the scene of the accident. 

The Bettendorf Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this third vehicle and its driver.  

The third vehicle is identified as a four-door 1997 to 2003 black Pontiac Grand Prix. The vehicle may have damage to the driver’s side.

The vehicle was last seen continuing on State Street / U.S. 67 toward LeClaire at a high rate of speed.

Anyone who has information that can assist the police department in identifying this vehicle and/or the driver is asked to contact Sgt. Andrew Champion at the Bettendorf Police Department.

EARLIER UPDATE

Two people were airlifted to Iowa City after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Bettendorf.

It happened on State Street near 62nd Street Court.

Multiple emergency crews and two helicopters responded to the scene, including the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Bettendorf Fire and LeClaire Fire.

State Street is expected to be closed for several more minutes as debris is cleared from the scene.

Officials are not sure of the cause.
