Police say speed was a major factor in a motorcycle-SUV crash that left one person with life-threatening injuries Friday.

Davenport Police, Davenport Fire, and Medic EMS responded around 10:54 a.m. to the crash at the intersection of Rockingham Road and Pine Street.

The SUV was eastbound on Rockingham and turning north onto Pine Street and the motorcycle was driving west on Rockingham Road. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Genesis East and was later airlifted to Iowa City with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, witness interviews and physical evidence indicate that speed was a major factor in the collision. No charges have been filed and names are not being released at this time.

Rockingham Road is closed between Pine and Schmidt near the Nestle Purina plant in Davenport as officials investigate a crash between a motorcycle and an SUV.

The motorcycle ended up on the south sidewalk of Rockingham. Traffic is being detoured.

The rider has been transported from the scene. No other information is available at this time.
