Police surround home in Princeton for ‘active incident’

UPDATE:

Princeton Police have Eric Truedson, 47, of Princeton in custody. 

He’s being charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. 

Princeton Police say at around 4 a.m. they received a call to North First St. for a report of suspect pointing a weapon at another person.

After a “lengthy” standoff, police say, the house started to burn. 

The suspect continued to resist efforts to come out of the house even though it was on fire. 

Ultimately, police say they were able to take him into custody after resisting arrest.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. 

EARLIER STORY:

The Princeton Police Department is working on an “active incident” near First and Hudson Streets and ask residents to avoid the area.

The department posted on its Facebook page to wait until police have cleared the scene.

The NewsTribune is reporting a man pointed a firearm at a woman and then barricaded himself inside a home. The newspaper shared the above photos with Local 4 News of police surrounding the home.

Illinois State Police said the woman was removed from the home before 9 a.m. and officials are communicating with the man.
