Projection for the Mississippi’s next crest

The Mississippi River is still falling in the Quad Cities, but that won’t be the case for long.

The combination of several inches of melted snow and recent heavy rains across Minnesota and Wisconsin means more water coming our way. This crest could be just as high as the 20.68′ level reached back on April 8th. That mark was the 8th highest level ever reached in the Quad Cities.

Current projections are for another crest between 19.5′ and 21.0′ somtime at the end of this month.

It all depends on how exactly the water moves through the Mississippi watershed to our north and how much rain falls in the meantime.
