Each year there are more than 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer.
Illinois hospitals are providing hope for families who continue to fight for their child's health.
Cody Schiever of our sister station WMBD shared one Quad City boy's journey and how you can help his family.
"Knowing the fact that even with what he's going through... it's not letting it stop him," Audrey Ehrhardt said.
You'll rarely find 3-year-old Christophar without a smile on his face.
But on May 19, the boy who spread cheer everywhere he went learned some life-changing news.
Doctors informed him he had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma -- Stage 4 high-risk cancer.
"It hasn't been a good process. He's had kidney failure to MRSA and it's just getting worse."
And the worse it got, doctors say Christophar has more than 60 tumors throughout his body.
The largest -- just two inches smaller than a football -- lays on his adrenaline gland.
But Christophar isn't giving up.
"His mindset is completely different to it compared to what it was the first day, but all about he's a trooper," Audrey Ehrhardt said. "I mean he's doing this like a pro."
Christophar and his family spend most of their time in Peoria, getting treatment at OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois.
Utilizing Peoria's Family House -- and without a working car -- Christophar's mom is fighting to provide him with anything he might need.
"We're hoping for is that we can get me a car, and can get us a place to live, so that that way he can call somewhere home," Audrey Ehrhardt said.
For his mom, Chistophar is the other half of her heart. And a reminder to never give up.
"He's a very lovable boy and he wants to spread it and he needs to be able to fight and show everyone that he is fighting for all of us, but we need to be there for him, too," Audrey Ehrhardt said.
There is a gofundme set up to help Christophar's family get a new car and with other expenses.
