A Quad Cties man is claiming a $1 million Mega Millions prize.

Bob Hollenback of Milan matched all five white balls in the October 23 drawing.

His Iowa Lottery ticket was just one number away from winning that evening’s $1.54 billion jackpot.

The 73-year-old said he already had a ticket for that huge jackpot drawing but decided to get another one when he entered Hy-Vee Gas in Davenport.

The ticket he purchased became the eighth $1 million-winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Iowa since the game debuted in 2010.

Hollenback, a retired computer analyst and farmer, checked his tickets a few days later.
